Professors are encouraged to arrange library orientations or course-related instructional sessions for their classes. It is recommended that a librarian meet with the professor prior to the date of the orientation or session. At that time they will discuss relevant student assignments and appropriate resources. The following rules apply to affiliated users:

• All orientations must be arranged at least one week in advance of the scheduled library visit.
• To enhance the relevance of the library visit, professors are encouraged to provide the librarians with copies of the course syllabus and/or library assignment at the time arrangements are made.
• Faculty are required to accompany their students as it has proven to enhance the effectiveness of instruction.
• The maximum size for a group demonstration is 50. Space for hands-on instruction is limited and varies based on availability.
• Special arrangements can be made to provide instructional services outside of the library and/or to larger groups. Please make arrangements two weeks in advance in these cases.

The Libraries offer scheduled workshops throughout the semester. Topics include Information Literacy, Graduate Research and PowerPoint. Workshops on discipline-related databases and resources are offered as needed. Workshops are free, but space is limited. Reservations are strongly encouraged.

Reference Consultations are available to affiliated patrons. Requesters must complete a Reference Consultation Request Form available online or at the reference desk. Requesters will be contacted by phone or email to arrange a consultation.
