Food and Drink Policy Statement
Food and Drink are allowed in the Main Library, but "eat responsibly!"
Note: Library users who violate these restrictions may be asked to take their food or drink outside the library.
The University Libraries must maintain an environment that is appropriate for the protection of library resources and conducive to study. Food and beverages attract rodents, cockroaches, ants, silverfish and other unwanted pests that damage library resources. By complying with the food and drink policy, users and staff will maintain a clean work environment, a pest - free building and aid in the preservation of our collections. Branch libraries may establish food and drink policies appropriate to their facilities, resources, and users. Please check for local policies.
Please observe these guidelines:

Smoking in University Facilities
The "Florida Clean Indoor Air Act, F.S., 386, Part II " was revised by the State Legislature in 1992. The revised law specifically forbids smoking in government buildings, educational facilities and recreational facilities.
To meet this statutory requirement smoking will not be permitted in any University facility, specifically including university classrooms, faculty and administrative offices, dining facilities, elevators, hallways, lobbies and restrooms. Receptacles for smoking are located outside most building entrances and the University encourages their use in order to maintain a clean outdoor environment.
Questions regarding public service policies should be directed to Dawn Smith, Assistant Dean, Public Services.
