 Psychology Resources Overview

The MacArthur Campus Library has a sizeable collection of books, journals, videos, microforms, and online databases for your search in psychology. To see what resources the library owns, we suggest that you browse stacks, explore our catalog, speak with a librarian, or visit our web pages for online psychology resources.

Articles
Our print journal collection is located in the alcove to the left as you enter the library. Journals published this year are shelved separately from those published in previous years. Some of these journals are also available electronically, and articles found online can be emailed directly to your computer at home or work. PsycARTICLES and PsycINFO are two of the more useful online database for ppsychology research at this campus. See our Psychology Resources Web Page for a longer list of searchable databases.

If you are working from a specific citation and know the full name of the journal you need, try our Comprehensive Journals page to see if it is available and how best to access it. If you are unable to locate it on that list, check the FAU Libraries Catalog. The Boca Raton Campus may have the journal you need. Requesting your article through interlibrary loan is another option (see below).

It is also possible to search FAU Libraries’ databases and to retrieve full text articles from home. See our web page for details on setting up the Proxy Server.

Books
Both reference and circulating books in psychology are available for your use. The call number (lettering) for psychology is "BF". Given the interdisciplinary nature of the field, psychology books will also be found in such sections as education and medicine.

Interlibrary Loan
For books located in the catalog, but not available at Jupiter, an interlibrary loan (ILL) request may be made by qualified patrons. Book requests can be made directly from the catalog record. Click on the book’s title. Look for “Command Options” and select “ILL Request.” This method also works with some articles indexed in some of our databases.

It usually takes a minimum of two working days for a book to arrive from the Boca Raton campus. An electronic ILL form is also available through a link on our home page.

Recall/Hold
The Recall/Hold form can be used when an item that you need is checked out by another patron. A "hold" will save the book for you when it's returned. A "recall" goes one step further. A notice is sent to the current borrower giving notice that another person needs the book and that a new, more immediate due date has been given. Instead of the original due date -which could be up to 6 months- the borrower has just 2 weeks from the date the recall is placed. If the book is not returned by the *new* due date, fines begin to accrue. The Recall/Hold request form is available online.
