A general outline of the subdivisions of history and their Library of Congress Classification System call numbers are shown below. Books can be located on the shelves by these call numbers or searched in the catalog. As your library research continues, you will find additional call numbers and search terms.
The letters C, D, E, & F are reserved for materials in History. For browsing purposes, simply go to the appropriate stacks. The Table below breaks down the History section in broad terms. Be aware that a great deal of interdisciplinary resources are also available, for instance:

Both circulating and non-circulating (Reference) materials follow the same classification system.

Information Resources - ZSearching the online catalog for your topic will illustrate how interdisciplinary your topic can be. Your work at the catalog will be a process of focusing the scope or perspective of your topic. Currently, the FAU catalog contains close to a million book records.
Searching Tips
FAU's book catalog has two search modes: Basic and Advanced. The Basic Screen gives the option of searching for books by keyword, author, title and subject. The Advanced Screen gives these options, plus several others. Open the box labeled "keyword" to view your search options.
