

The Klezmer Company Orchestra (KCO) was founded by Aaron Kula in 1997 with a mission to perform world music from a wide range of cultures and historical periods. KCO, serves as the professional ensemble-in-residence at Florida Atlantic University Libraries, and features accomplished jazz and classical musicians. The ensemble defies classification with its high-energy performances and diverse programming. KCO features core soloists with orchestral personnel that varies depending on the repertoire for each concert. The popular ensemble has performed before thousands at sold-out concerts and has received critical acclaim for its innovative musical fusion. KCO’s third CD “Beyond The Tribes” was released in 2008 and featured world music from the FAU Jewish Music Archives in Special Collections.

Florida's innovative, critically-acclaimed Klezmer Company Orchestra kicked off its 2008 season with the national release of its studio-produced debut album, “Beyond the Tribes.” The recording includes a unique mix of ethnic jazz orchestrations featuring exotic melodies from around the globe. Aaron Kula, director of music collections and performance at FAU Libraries, founded the professional ensemble-in-residence to perform and promote music from a range of cultures and historical periods from the libraries’ collections. KCO has successfully taken music in the collection from “shelf to stage” since its inception in 1997.
