BIKEL, NARRATOR
Theodore
Bikel graduated with honors from London's Royal Academy of
Dramatic Art and is one of the co-founders of the Israeli
Chamber Theatre. He has had major roles in numerous productions
including Sir Laurence Olivier's production of A Streetcar
Named Desire and Peter Ustinov's The Love of Four Colonels.
On Broadway he originated the role of Baron von Trapp in The
Sound of Music and has played the role of Tevye in Fiddler
on the Roof more than 1,650 times since 1967. Mr. Bikel was
co-creator, co-author and co-star of the new show Shalom
Aleichem Lives. He has appeared in numerous opera productions
and in many movies. His multifaceted career includes writing
and acting for television and radio. He is the author of two
books, has recorded 16 albums and co-founded the Newport Folk
Festival. He is currently the president of the Associated
Actors and Artistes of America and is the former president
of the Actor's Equity Association.
