Database of the Month

January 2005

Original Sources

We have selected Original Sources as our database of the month for January. This database includes an extensive collection of full-text primary source documents in history, politics, philosophy, religion, and science. Some examples of included documents are the Charter of the United Nations, the Zimmermann Telegram, the Communist Manifesto, and Paine's Rights of Man. Many of the documents are accompanied by a historical summary which provides useful context and background information.

Original Sources also provides a large collection of full-text original works of literature by well-known authors writing in English and other languages. Important works in American, British, classical, juvenile, and world literature are included. Some examples of included literature are Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher, Sinclair's The Jungle, Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

Documents in Original Sources can be searched by author, title, keyword, date, or exact phrase. All documents can also be browsed by category.

Each month, FAU Libraries will highlight a selected database from our collection of online resources. Don’t forget that you must first login through EZ Proxy if you wish to access a database from off-campus.
