Judaic Collection

Originally established as the Judaica Music Rescue Project in 2002 and later renamed Judaica Sound Archives (JSA) in 2005, the JSA has become one of the largest and most extensive collections of Judaic recorded sound in the world. The JSA provides source materials to Judaic scholars around the world and supports FAUís Judaic Studies program. The collection holds recordings that are considered Jewish, such as: cantorial, Yiddish, Klezmer, Hebrew, and also recordings of Jewish performers, conductors and/or composers.

The collection contains all types of audio media Ė discs (78 rpm, 45 rpm, LPs), tapes (cassette, 8-track, reel-to-reel), and CDs. Discography information, label and album cover scans, and sound files for items selected for digitization from the Judaica Sound Archives may be accessible to students, faculty and the general public through the JSA website and JSA Scholarís Research Stations located at selected academic sites in the USA, Europe and Israel.

Digitized collections on the JSA website are either in the public domain or copyright permission has been granted. More than over 13,000 songs can be played in their entirety.
