Altered books transform old books into works of art through the use of collage, paint, drawing, etc. You are limited only by your imagination. In this workshop, we will be exploring different ways and techniques of transforming a book into a work of art. This workshop is designed to appeal to artists and art lovers alike.
Bring in a book that you have chosen to use and any type of collage material: from wallpaper scraps to old maps and everything in between. Three dimensional objects can also be included. Almost any scrap of paper can be utilized. When selecting a book for altering, look for one with as few pages as possible and preferably with a stitched binding. Thrift stores and garage sales are great places to find old books. You can choose a book with only text or a book with illustrations.
