Holiday & Everyday: A Quick Stack of Notebooks
Instructor Karen Hanmer

Virtual Workshop
Wednesday November 30, 2022
7 to 8:30 PM Eastern Standard Time
From wherever you are, via Zoom.
(This workshop will be recorded, and video will be available to registered students for at least two weeks after the workshop.)

If you're planning a homemade holiday this year, we've got the perfect quickly made handmade present for you! You can construct a bevy of these elegant notebooks in just a few hours. The binding is a Double Pamphlet with Tipped Wrapper, and it is a most satisfying solution for a two-signature text block. The signatures are sewn back-to back with a single pamphlet stitch. A simple wrapper of text-weight paper is tipped to the text block at the spine and at the fore edges. The spine is square and crisp. The sewing is covered and protected. This simple notebook is easily adaptable from a large-page size to a tiny purse or pocket size. The cover is made from text-weight paper. Choose any color, texture or pattern that would delight you.

In this workshop you will make at least three notebooks. The first is a simpler structure to warm up or bring new binders up to speed, the second has a large page size, and the third is the same height and width as your smartphone. If you work quickly, you are welcome to prepare extra supplies and make additional books during class. Start using your notebook immediately or make a pile of them this holiday season as handmade gifts always ready to bestow: You can construct many of these notebooks in just a few hours. How's that for a quick and thoughtful little gift this Chanukah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa?
