REAL MAIL FRIDAYS: Hallowe'en Social

Friday October 25, 2019
2 to 6 PM in JCBA's Book Arts Gallery
at FAU’s Wimberly Library 3rd Floor East
Suggested Donation $10 donation or more

Here comes Hallowe'en, a holiday that always falls a little too far from the typical Real Mail Fridays date of First Friday of the month for us to celebrate properly. What to do? Celebrate with a special Real Mail Fridays event, of course!

Join us for our first ever Real Mail Fridays Hallowe'en Social to welcome in the spooky season. Expect some good old fashioned Hallowe'en fun, the kind that harkens back to Halloween's old spelling (the one with the apostrophe). We'll be playing Snap Apple and doing some good old fashioned divination. There'll be a mini Makers Marketplace with some of your favorite Makers Marketplace vendors. Plus spirited music and treats and, of course, all you need to write some wonderful letters. Come in costume? You're absolutely welcome to! But all you really need to bring is a festive spirit, your address book, and a donation of $10 or more (we appreciate any support you can provide, and we welcome you even if you can’t give $10). Come when you can and leave when you must… we’ll be here writing letters and having autumnal fun from 2 to 6 PM, when the library closes.

New England Apples by J.P. Sullivan & Co. Yankee Brand Apples, featuring new crop Macs and Cortlands available at the Autumn Makers Marketplace and at your neighborhood Publix.

On August 15, 2019, FAU Libraries initiated a new policy for improved building security. Everyone entering and leaving FAU’s Wimberly Library must be swiped in and out, using their FAU Owl Card. For visitors, once you’re inside the lobby of the building, wave at the folks at the front desk and let them know you are here for the Jaffe Center and they will grant you access. (Please be patient with us as the workings of this new policy unfold. Thank you.)

The Jaffe Center for Book Arts is located on the third floor east of Florida Atlantic University's Wimberly Library. From I-95 or the Florida Turnpike, exit Glades Road, east. The FAU campus is located just east of I-95. If you enter the campus at FAU's main entrance (the one furthest west on Glades Road... and the first one you get to approaching from I-95 or the turnpike), you will enter on West University Drive. Continue straight on West University Drive to the traffic light at its intersection with Volusia Street. Turn right onto Volusia Street. You will see a parking garage on Volusia Street, and the Wimberly Library is the next building east of the parking garage

The brand new I-95 interchange for Florida Atlantic University (Exit 48A) takes you directly from the interstate to FAU. Once you pass the traffic light at Spanish River Boulevard, you are on the FAU campus on FAU Boulevard. Continue to the traffic signal at the intersection of FAU Boulevard and University Drive (FAU Stadium will be on your right). Turn right onto University Drive. Turn left at the traffic signal at Volusia Street. You will see a parking garage on Volusia Street, and the Wimberly Library is the next building east of the parking garage.

Visitor Parking is available at the metered spaces in the library parking lot; there are “metered parking” signs posted at the head of these parking spaces. The meter system accepts payment with cash or credit card at the rate of $2 per hour. You may also purchase one day parking permit for $5 online directly. Easy!

Start here: Then click on “Visitor, Guest & Volunteer Parking / Permits” … you’ll find it with a yellow icon just below Student Permits and Faculty/Staff Permits. As far as the library goes, these permits are valid anywhere throughout our nearby parking areas (Library Lot, Parking Garage, and parallel parking on Volusia Street) but they are not valid at metered spaces.
