Helen M. Salzberg Artist in Residence Program
Lorna
Galloway is a recent graduate of Florida Atlantic University, receiving her
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a
concentration in Printmaking. In
her work, she primarily focuses on four color screenprints.
Lorna was born and raised in South Florida, and the Florida architectural
and urban landscape appears regularly in her work. She has had the occasion
to exhibit and sell her artwork at many South Florida hotspots, including
Howley's, a mid-century diner in West Palm Beach that is a local
favorite. In the coming months, she hopes to expand beyond South Florida
and bring her work to a larger audience while at the same time applying to
residency and graduate programs to help further her education. Her imagery is
dominated by mid-twentieth century design and typography.
Originally seeing herself as a documentarian, she is now further
exploring mid-century printing techniques, textures and styles that are
representative of that time period.
