Computers, Printing & Copying in the Libraries

PCs and Scanners

The FAU Libraries provide personal computers (PCs), laptops, and various software for the FAU community.  The Libraries also offers a limited number of PCs for public use in the First Floor East.  Contact your local FAU campus library for information on the computing resources at their facilities.

Computing Areas

Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the following areas and have the indicated software. Bring a Flash/USB drive or other type of memory device to save information.

Logging on to the Computers

Current FAU Students, Staff and Faculty:  Log on to the library PCs by using a current, valid FAUNet ID

Palm Beach State College at Boca Raton Students: Ask for the PBSC log on at the Reference Office.

Public Patrons:  Log on to the PCs by using the guest log-in.  Ask for this at the Reference Office (Boca Raton campus library) or at other service areas.

WiFi for Wireless Devices

WiFi is available to FAU faculty, students and staff with a current FAUNetID and password. 

FAU Guest Wireless allows visitors to request a password to FAU's wireless system using their 10-digit cell phone number that can receive text messages (standard text messaging rates apply). Guest wireless access is available for a 72 hour period.

Public patrons and users from other colleges can use the public computers in the Reference Area located on the LY 1st Floor East.

Collaborative Workstations & Study Rooms

Collaborative computer workstations are available for students working in groups on projects and presentations. Seven workstations dedicated to this function are now available adjacent to the Reference Department, Alumni Alcove (2 computers-1st Floor West), on the 2nd Floor West Computer Lab, and in the following three studyrooms 403, 404 and 405.

Collaborative workstation study room keys may be checked out at the library Circulation Desk with an Owl Card. At least three (3) group members must be present at the time of checkout. The rooms are charged out for 2 hours, renewable once.


Laptops (PCs and Macs) are available in the Libraries' Media Center in LY 122 for FAU affiliates and are for use within the library building.  An OWL Card is required for borrowing.

Adaptative Technology for ADA Users

The following equipment is available to library patrons who need special accomodations. They are available in the 1st Floor West multimedia lab. ADA users can request access at the lobby service desk or Reference Office.

Wireless Printing

Need to print from a laptop?  You may print from a laptop or web-enabled mobile device using your Owl Card, FAU Net ID or guest account through the FAU Printing Service.

Printing, Copying & Scanning

PCs and ScannersPrinters & Copying.  The first floor east has several laser jet printers, including color, and a copier which operate on a pay-per-use basis. Use your Owl Card, FAU Net ID, or guest account to print, and use cash, debit or credit card to add funds to your Print Account. Copiers (both black/white and color) are available throughout the library.  Use your Owl Card, FAU Net ID, or guest account to print, and use cash, debit or credit card to add funds to your Print Account. See the new FAU Printing Services website for more printing information.

To fax documents and for advanced printing tasks (such as posters, lamination, or high-volume copies), please visit the Copy Center.  It is located on the southwest end of the Breezeway, between Starbucks and FAU Bookstore.

Scanners are available for public and student use in the 1st Floor East Reference computing area, and in the Alumni Alcove computer area, located on 1st Floor West.  Bring your USB/Flash memory device to save your documents, email or send to the "Cloud."
