Items in the FAU Libraries are arranged by the Library of Congress Classification System. Philosophy books typically are arranged by subject matter and then by history and ethnicity. If you would like to browse the library, the following subjects and call numbers will direct you to areas related to philosophy. These call numbers are intended as a general guide only; other books on the subject may be found in other sections of the library. Consult the catalog using the subjects exactly as listed for those other locations.

ELECTRONIC DATABASES

	Aleph (FAU Libraries Catalog) Holdings of the FAU Libraries (all campuses). Searchable by title, author, subject, and keyword. Advanced search allows for more control over search parameters, including language and date.
	RLIN Bibliographic File and WorldCat (Eureka / FirstSearch) Shows the holdings of virtually every major library, archive, and research center with materials in all formats dating back to the beginning of the printed word. RLIN seems to describe more humanities-based works at larger universities and research institutions.
	Alternative Press Index (FirstSearch)Partial full-text database that indexes alternative journals covering cultural, economic, political and social change. Coverage from 1991 to present.
	Arts & Humanities Citation Index (Web of Science) A unique citation database which allows searching cited references as well as traditional searches independently or in combination with Science Citation Index Expanded or Social Sciences Citation Index. Also available in Print (1976-1997, call number REF AI 3 .A63).
	FRANCIS (Eureka) Indexes a wide range of primarily European multilingual information in the humanities with strengths in religion, the history of art, and literature. Coverage from 1984 to present.
	GenderWatch (ProQuest Direct) Mostly full-text collection of newspapers, magazines and journals related to women's studies, men's studies, and gender and gay/lesbian issues. A rich collection of articles, editorials, columns, reviews, etc. provides a broad diversity of perspectives and viewpoints. Coverage varies; 1970s to present.
	Humanities Full Text (Wilson) Formerly called Humanities Index, partial full-text records in archaeology, art, classics, film, folklore, journalism, linguistics, music, the performing arts, philosophy, religion, world history, and world literature. Coverage from 1984 to present. Also available in Print (1974-1993, call number REF AI 3 .R51).
	Opposing Viewpoints (Gale) Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center draws on the acclaimed social issues series published by Greenhaven Press, as well as core reference content from other Gale and Macmillan Reference USA sources to provide a complete one-stop source for information on social issues. Access viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to websites, and full-text magazine and newspaper articles.
	Philosopher’s Index (Silver Platter) The Philosopher's Index provides indexing and abstracts from books and journals of philosophy and related fields. It covers the areas of ethics, aesthetics, epistemology, logic, and metaphysics as well as material on the philosophy of disciplines, such as law, religion, science, history, and education. Coverage from 1940 to present.
