The following is a partial list of subject headings related to images that can be used to locate books and other items in ALEPH, the FAU Libraries Catalog, and various indexes/databases.

Note: There is no subject heading for images. However, searching for the sub-heading 'pictorial works' within a subject or searching 'illustrated dictionary' within a title search should retrieve books with many images. You may also try searching the subjects:

	Emergence of Advertising in America: 1850-1920 - http://scriptorium.lib.duke.edu/eaa/ Duke University presents over 9000 images, with information, relating to the early history of advertising in America.
	Ad* Access - http://scriptorium.lib.duke.edu/adaccess/ Duke University's image database presents images and information on over 7000 ads from American and Canadian newspapers and magazines between 1911 and 1955. Subjects include television ads, radio, Transportation, Beauty and Hygiene, and World War II.
	CORBIS - http://www.corbis.com/ Image database that requires payment, although searching is free. The Corbis Collection is made up of the world's most significant photography and fine art from more than 3,000 creative sources. Has more than 65 million images, including 2.1 million online, geared towards professionals, consumers and emerging markets around the globe.
	Getty Images Creative - http://creative.gettyimages.com/ Image database searching numerous collections. Images require payment, though one can download a low-resolution image with a watermark for free.
	Image Finder (Berkley Digital Library SunSITE) - http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/ImageFinder/ Searches various image databases including SPIRO Architectural Images, SunSITE Digital Images and other digital library collections.

	Aleph (FAU Libraries Catalog) Holdings of the FAU Libraries (all campuses). Searchable by title, author, subject, and keyword. Advanced search allows for more control over search parameters, including language and date.
	Grove Dictionary of Art Online (Groveart) Includes access to the Bridgeman Art Library of over 100,000 digitized works of art from cave painting to contemporary. Grove Dictionary of Art is also available in Print (call number REF N 31 .D5 1996).
	AccuNet/AP Multimedia Archive Contains Associated Press image archive of over 50 million images, including graphs, maps, and tables from the AP graphics portfolio.
	American Memory: Historical Collections for the National Digital Library Contains historical photos and images that correspond to a multitude of subjects. American Memory is a gateway to rich primary source materials relating to the history and culture of the United States. The site offers more than 7 million digital items from more than 100 historical collections.
	ARTstor ARTstor is a non-profit initiative, founded by The Andrew W.Mellon Foundation, with a mission to use digital technology to enhance scholarship, teaching and learning in the arts and associated fileds. The ARTstor Digital Library Charter Collection is a repository of hundreds of thousands of digital images and related data and tools to actively use those images. [Click the "Search and Browse for Images" link in the lower left corner to enter the ARTstor Digital Library. If you want to be able to make full use of ARTstor, you will need to register. You may register on campus or off campus via EZproxy.]
	Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals (Eureka) Indexes more than 2500 international journals of architecture and interior design from the 1930s to the present. Citations list types of images found in articles such as plans, sections, elevations, photos, etc.
	PALMM (Publication of Archival, Library and Museum Materials) Includes links to various digital collections of photographs including the Ringling Collection of 19th Century Actors and Actresses and the World Map Collection of digitized modern and antique maps.

	AltaVista – www.altavista.com Includes an image search engine. Use the Images tab at the top of the search bar.
	Picsearch – www.picsearch.com A search engine specifically designed to locate pictures and images.
	Google - www.images.google.com Another search engine specifically for images.
	Amazing Picture Machine: - http://www.ncrtec.org/picture.htm A database of links to graphic resources that have been found on the Internet and cataloged by the North Central Regional Technology in Education Consortium (NCRTEC) staff.
