ELECTRONIC DATABASES

Because of the interdisciplinary nature of careers & occupations resources, many articles appear in journals besides those deemed strictly for "careers" or "vocational guidance."  What follows is a partial listing of databases and e-journals from a variety of disciplines, including: Business, Education, and Psychology. Virtually any specialized subject database is likely to have articles pertaining to careers in that field; see the FAU Libraries Research Guides for more database ideas for your major or field of study.

ABI Inform (1918-present) - This resource enables one to search multiple ABI databases: ABI/INFORM Global, ABI/INFORM Archive Complete, ABI/INFORM Dateline, and ABI/INFORM Trade & Industry. Business news, journal articles, and company information.
Business & Company Resource Center (1980-present) - Includes company profiles, company brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies, and full-text articles
Education Full Text (1984-present) - Subject areas include adult education, arts, athletics, comparative education, competency-based education, computers in education, continuing education, educational technology, elementary education, government funding, higher education, instructional media, language arts, library science, literacy standards, multicultural/ethnic education, parent-teacher relations, prayer in public schools, preschool education, religious education, school administration, science and mathematics, secondary education, special education, student counseling, teacher education, teacher evaluation, teaching methods, vocational education.  Full-text coverage begins in January 1996.
Expanded Academic ASAP (1980-present) - Good general database that indexes articles from scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers in the arts, humanities, social sciences, science, and technology. Limit your search to "refereed publications" for citations from scholarly periodicals.
Infotrac Onefile (1980-present) - A one-stop source for news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics: business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports, technology, and many general interest topics.
OmniFile Full Text Mega - Wilson OmniFile Full Text, Mega Edition is a multi-disciplinary database providing the complete content - indexing, abstracts, and full text - from six of Wilson's full-text databases: Education Full Text, General Science Full Text, Humanities Full Text, Readers' Guide Full Text, Social Sciences Full Text, and Wilson Business Full Text.
Peterson's - Provides information about educational opportunities at all levels, and gives individuals the ability to search Peterson's databases, as well as to request more information, apply to a school or program, and interact in other ways with faculty and administrators at educational institutions.
Plunkett Research - This resource provides industry sector analysis and research, industry trends and industry statistics. Subjects include competitive intelligence, account plan or sales guide data, market research, vertical industry marketing data, product strategy data, trends analysis, statistics, job search data, company profiles and executive lists.
ProQuest Digital Dissertations (1861-present) - Access citations and abstracts for all titles in the Dissertation Abstracts databases. Titles published since 1997 are available in 24 page PDF previews, some of which can be downloaded in their entirety.
PsycARTICLES (1988-present) - Contains the full text of articles from APA journals and selected EPF journals, most from 1988 to the present.
Psychology: SAGE Full Text (1970-present)- This resource provides access to the full text of 30 journals published by SAGE and participating societies, some journals going back 22 years, and encompasses over 21,600 articles.
PsycINFO (1887-present) - PsycINFO contains more than 1.5 million references to journal articles, books, book chapters, technical reports and dissertations dealing with mental health, neuroscience, psychology, psychometrics, and related disciplines.  This resource provides links to full text dissertations within the ProQuest Digital Dissertations database.
Web of Science (1945-present) - Includes the Arts and Humanities Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index, and Science Citation Index Expanded. Allows users to search for cited references.
