Information Services for
FAU Students & Affiliates
The Reference Department provides assistance with using the FAU Libraries'
collections to the FAU community and the students and faculty at the Palm Beach
State College - Boca Raton campus. We will also provide these services to
public patrons who visit the library.
Reference Assistance
Need help finding information? We can assist by recommending books, journal articles,
and databases. Visit the Reference Desk at FAU - Boca Raton campus
library in Building 3, First Floor East, or call (561) 297-3785.
Online help is available through
Ask a Librarian, with assistance available via
chat, text, and by
e-mail.
Students and affiliates at FAU's partner campus may also visit the
FAU Libraries at other campuses for assistance.
Tutorials & Webcasts
Tutorials & Webcasts are
online "how-to" guides to using library resources and are available 24/7. Topics include using the library catalog and databases such as SciFinder, Business & Company Research
Center and RefWorks.
Instructors of FAU & PBSC - Boca Raton Campus are welcomed to assign these to students or post their URLs onto course management systems.
Library Instruction & Orientation
See the Libraries' Information Literacy and Instructional Services page to request a library
instruction session for a class or information.
For in-depth research or information needs, request an individual research consultation with a librarian.
Learn about various library resources! Workshops cover library databases,
research topics and Microsoft Office software. Visit the workshop page to
see scheduled workshops.
Computers, Printing & Copying
Computers on the first floor east of the library are equipped with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
and internet access. Bringing a Flash drive to save information is highly recommended.
See the Computer Software page for
technical specifics and locations.
Printers & Copying. The first floor east has a laser jet printer, color printer, and a copier which operate on a
pay-per-use basis. Use your Owl Card Card to print; PBSC students and
public patrons
can use cash to purchase an FAU Visitor Card for $1.00
from any Owl Card Machine in the library. Use cash to add credits to the Owl Card
and to use selected copiers in the building.
To fax documents and for advanced printing tasks (such as posters, lamination, or
high-volume copies), please visit the Toshiba Copy Center.
It is located
on the southwest end of the Breezeway, between the Starbucks and FAU
Bookstore.
Scanners are available for public and student use in the 1st Floor
East Reference computing area. Bring your USB/Flash memory device to
save your documents.
Need to print from a laptop?
Current FAU students with laptops or web-enabled mobile devices can use FAU's Online Printing Service while in the library.
