| Can I borrow a laptop in the library? | |
Laptops may only be checked out by current FAU and PBCC South Campus students, faculty and staff with a valid Library Card (for FAU students, faculty and staff, this would be an “Owl Card”) and a second form of photo identification in LY 214 (2nd floor Media Center). Laptops are for IN LIBRARY USE ONLY. |
| How do I configure my laptop to access FAU’s wireless network? | |
See http://wireless.fau.edu for the configurations. If you still need help, see IRM in the Media Center or call them at 561-297-3999. |
| How do I check out a study room? How long may I use it? | |
As long as there are at least 2 people in your group, you can check out a room for 2 hours at a time, for a maximum of 4 hours. Ask for a room key at the Circulation Desk. |
| Where are the study rooms located? | |
On the 3rd and 4th floors of the library. |
| Where can I study after library hours? | |
There is a 24-hour study lounge located adjacent to the library. |
| What if a book or journal article I need is not available at my FAU campus library? | |
You must request the book or article via Interlibrary Loan. You can create an ILL account here http://www.library.fau.edu/depts/ill/illdept.htm. Please keep in mind that ILL is not intended for obtaining textbooks, standardized test prep books, or journal articles available in print at FAU. |
| How do I print in the library? | |
All patrons should use their Owl Card or purchase a special Visitor Card from the Cash to Card Machines located on campus to print or photocopy materials in the library. Visitor Cards cost $1 and have no value on them. You may add money to both Owl Cards and Visitor Cards at these same Cash to Card Machines. Once there is money on your card, hit the print icon on your PDF, Word document or browser. Make a note of the number of the computer you are using. Take your Owl Card or Visitor Card to the printer and insert it into the card reader machine. Enter your computer number and your print jobs will appear. Money will be debited from your card after your items have printed. |
| Where can I get change in the library? | |
There is a change machine adjacent to the Circulation Desk in the library. It provides coins for $1 and $5 bills. However, the library cannot break large bills. Cash-to-card machines ONLY accept $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills to add value to your Owl Card. They do not provide change. |
