Basic Searching - Title

Title searches are helpful if you know the title of a particular item, but don't quite remember who the author is.
Let's do a title search for the book The Wind in the Willows.

Click Title in the search type box.
Type the title in the search terms box and submit your search. (See Figure 13 below)

Did you enter the title as the wind in the willows ?
If you did, the Catalog told you that no matches were found for that title. (See Figure 14 below.)

BIG TIP!
If a title begins with "a," "an," or "the," do not include it in the search box.
For our example, we should type wind in the willows.

 


After changing this, the Catalog should tell us that it found 12 items. To see the item's record, click the entry's blue link. Don't forget to write down the call number if you want to retrieve the book from the stacks. (See Figure 15 below.)
