Subject Searches - Three Examples

Let's say we need to locate books on television news for our journalism class. If we do a Keyword search on television news, the catalog gives us 373 hits or records. (See Figure 24)

Record 5 looks like it may be something we'd want. Let's click on its title and look at the full record. (See Figure 25)

We want to see if there are other books in the library on this subject. Scroll down the page until we see Subjects, general.

The subject headings for this book are:

  • Foreign news
  • Humanitarian assistance

We can click on the links and the catalog will give us results. If we click on the Television broadcasting of news link, the Catalog gives us 213 items with that subject heading. (See Figure 26)
