The Catalog now found 35 items with these keywords - a much better number to work with. (See Figure 9 below)

Scroll through your list of titles. (Remember, titles are in blue and they are hyperlinked.) When you find one you like, click on its title to see the full record. Let's choose item number 3, Beauty and Business: Commerce, Gender, and Culture in Modern America. (See Figure 10 below)

From the information provided in the full record, you can often determine whether or not the item will be useful for your research. If it is, or even if you're unsure, write down the Call Number. Every book, video, magazine, document, etc. has its own distinct Call Number.

The Call Number is an item's "address" and it tells you where in the library the item "lives."

For this book, the call number is HF3031 .B42 2001.
Later in this tutorial, in the Call Numbers module, you will learn more about call numbers and how to read them.

Big Tip!
Did you know that even if a book is currently checked out, you can recall or place a hold on it? Select the "Recall/Hold Request" link under the book's status in the full record view. (See Figure 10 above.) You will need to enter your Owl Card number. For more information on recalls/holds, visit the Access Services page. (Note: If you click the link now, you will leave the tutorial. To return to the tutorial, click the browser's "Back" button.")
