Expanded Academic ASAP - Scholarly Articles

Let's say we need scholarly articles only on college sports. (What are scholarly articles? Click here to find out. Note: This will take you away from this page.) Go back to the keyword search page and, this time, click the box that says "to refereed publications." (See Figure 9) This means the database will search for articles on college sports that come from scholarly/academic journals.

Our search gives us 240 citations. To see the full record, including the text, abstract, or citation, click the article's title. To print or send the article as an email, select the appropriate link. (See Figures 6 and 7 on previous page for details.)

Subject Searches

Use subject guide searches when what you want can be expressed as, "show me articles about" a topic.

Select Subject guide from the left hand side of the page. Let's conduct a subject search for articles about affirmative action. (See Figure 10)

The results give us a listing of subjects (not articles) containing the words: affirmative action. (See Figure 11)

Let's click See Also under the "Affirmative Action" heading to view the related subjects on affirmative action.
