With Advanced searches, you also have the option of limiting your search to a specific language, a specific FAU library branch or Boca Raton department, a certain format such as a DVD or a map, and a specific date range.

Language - You can limit your search to dozens of languages including Danish, Hebrew, Maori, and Tagalog. Note: There is no option to limit your search to English only. (See Figure 35)

Location - Like Basic searches, you can also limit your Advanced search to items located:

  • at a particular FAU library branch
    • Boca Raton
    • Jupiter - John D. MacArthur Campus
    • Port St. Lucie - Treasure Coast Campus/St. Lucie West Library
  • in a Boca Raton department (e.g. Judaica, Reference, Media Center).

    (See Figure 36)

Format - You can limit your search to a specific physical format. This is useful if you're looking for a particular movie that you know is based on a book. You don't want the catalog to look for the book, just the movie. In this case, you can type in the name of the movie and then limit your search to Video (all formats). (See Figure 36) For our example, we just wanted The Wizard of Oz movie.

See the User Guide for more information on how to use the Advanced Search mode.
