Selected Resources:

      FAU LIBRARIES CATALOG

Ø      Searches will find books and government documents. More effective searches can be done using subject terms.

Ø      Some catalog entries have “purl” addresses so they can be accessed directly as an electronic resource (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).

Ø      If the library does not own the book you need use ILLIAD to request the item through Interlibrary Loan.

      LINKS FROM LIBRARY WEB PAGES

Ø      Select Research Resources from library homepage followed by Government Resources and then Federal Government Resources in order to find links to sites from the executive, judicial, and legislative branches of government. FirstGov is a popular government information directory. Many topical reports of interest are produced by the Congressional Research Service. Additional  reports on foreign policy topics can be found on the web pages of the State Department

Ø      GODORT has produced the useful directory Frequently Requested Government Information. The Library of Congress provides access to International Documents with Country Studies and Portals to the World.

INTERNET INFORMATION RESOURCES

Ø      Directories can provide links that have been pre-selected as unique or especially helpful, such as Librarians' Internet Index and Yahoo!Directory.

Ø      Discover all about blogs and their uses at  Blog Bib and do searches at Google Blog Search .

Ø      Other resources include listservs, often with web archives, at L-Soft  and links to associations, personal homepages, and more from U. of Michigan Documents Center .

Ø      It is possible to find newsgroups and read about Usenet at Google Groups or Living Internet . In addition, one may search Institutional Repositories for working papers, journal articles, dissertations and theses. The Digital Commons @ Florida Atlantic University also provides links to repositories at other universities.

Selected Databases:

You must use EZ Proxy to access databases from off campus.

Ø     Info Trac OneFile offers an extensive selection of news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics. It is possible to limit a search to peer-reviewed publications.

Ø      JSTOR  contains over 500 scholarly journals in disciplines such as Political Science, Asian Studies, and Middle East Studies.

Ø      CIAO is the Columbia International Affairs Online database which provides a comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs. This source includes journal articles, ebooks, policy briefs, and working papers.
