Electronic Classroom Use Policy


The S.E. Wimberly Library electronic classroom at Florida Atlantic University is a library instruction space that has 35 computers for student use. In addition, the space is wireless and has three tables for studying at the back of the room. Guidelines for using the equipment are available at the instructor’s station in the front of the room. This classroom was designed for library staff to teach classes and other groups how to access the library’s proprietary databases and other online resources effectively.

Usage Guidelines

The electronic classroom may be used only for the following purposes:

  • College classes scheduled for library instruction taught by a librarian or library assistant.
  • Faculty and staff who are co-teaching with a librarian may also use the lab, but only in conjunction with the librarian.
  • High school or middle school classes scheduled for library instruction taught by a librarian or library assistant.
  • Library instruction for faculty or staff taught by a librarian or library assistant.
  • Library staff meetings.
  • Library staff training by a librarian, librarian assistant or outside vendor.

    • The room is NOT available for:

  • Regular meetings of any group, including regularly scheduled college classes.
  • Non-library led classes.
  • Use as a computer lab.

    • Reserving the space:

  • Requests to sign up for instruction time in the classroom should be sent to lyilis@fau.edu or made by calling 7-4318.
  • Please send requests at least 1 week in advance.
  • Meetings/training sessions for librarians must be requested at least 2 weeks prior to the meeting date.

    When your class is completed:

  • Make sure the projector and computer at the instructor’s station are turned off.
  • Leave all computers turned on.
  • Lock the door. The door is to remain locked at all times when the classroom is not in use.
  • Return the key to Instructional Services, LY 175.
