The selected sources listed below are useful for finding books and articles on communicating ethical behavior.

  • Subject searchingGo to the "Basic Search" screen and from the "Browse Organized Lists" menu select "Subjects, All."  Type in the following Library of Congress subject heading (with dashes for subheadings):

Communication--Moral and ethical aspects

  • Keyword searching:  Go to the "Advanced Search" screen and type in your keywords using "Keywords Anywhere." (Example:  communicating and ethics)

ELECTRONIC DATABASES

Electronic Databases are available from the FAU Libraries home page at http://www.fau.edu/library by selecting "Research Resources" or "Quick Links" and then "Indexes/Databases". When accessing the databases remotely, be sure to select the link for the "EZproxy" server.

  • Communication Abstracts
    Provides references to articles on communicating ethics located in journals, books, papers and reports, primarily.
     

  • Communication Studies: A SAGE Full-Text Collection
    This database gives access to full text articles from approximately 19 journals covering various topics, such as communication studies and ethics.
     

  • Expanded Academic ASAP
    This general index gives references to articles (some with the full text) on communicating ethics in various settings, from a wide range of periodicals.
     

  • ProQuest Dissertations and Theses
    Contains references to doctoral dissertations completed in the U.S. at accredited institutions.  Some full text of dissertations is available.
     

  • Social Sciences Full Text
    This is a good resource for finding articles in journals, books, and papers on intercultural communication and ethics.
     

  • Web of Science
    Contains references to articles on various topics, including those found in Social Sciences Citation Index.  Also provides references to "cited references" and "times cited."

EVALUATING INFORMATION

If you are not using one of the "Electronic Databases" listed above or other databases via the FAU Libraries Electronic Collection, you need to consider some of the following questions when evaluating information from the Internet:

  1. How authoritative is the source of information?

  2. How accurate is the information?

  3. How reliable is the information?

  4. How current is the information?

  5. How relevant is the information to my topic?
