Question: How do I access FAU course reserve e-copies from home?
The first step in accessing any information from the FAU Libraries on the
Internet is to link to the FAU Libraries home page.
In order to access the FAU Course Reserve e-copies from home, you will need
to download the Adobe Acrobat Reader software from the Internet.
Starting from our homepage, click on the Electronic Collections link. Once you reach the Electronic Collections
webpage, choose ‘A’ under Databases A-Z. On the resulting page, you
will see a yellow icon for downloading Adobe Acrobat. Follow the
instructions supplied by Adobe.
Once you have the Acrobat Reader, or if you already have the Acrobat Reader, beginning
from the FAU Libraries home page. Choose FAU Course Reserves. At this
point you will be asked for your 14 digit OWL card number. Enter it,
making sure to omit the "A"s at either end of the number.
On the resulting page indicate the kind of search you wish to do by
clicking on the selection in the left hand box. Then type in your search.

Question: How do I acess OVID or any database from home?
The OVID database has online copies of nursing journals both CINAHL and
Nursing - Journals@Ovid Full Text. To access OVID from FAU's homepage ,
click on "FAU Libraries Electronic Collection,‘Databases A-Z’.
Next, choose the "O" and OVID will
appear at the top of the list. Click on "OVID" to open the database.
HOWEVER, in order to access OVID or any database from home you are required to set up your
computer with a proxy server. These URLs:
http://ezproxy.fau.edu/ or
http://webluis.fcla.edu/~fclwlv3/weblhtml/proxy.html
will take you to the instructions for making the adjustments to your
browser and setting up your computer.
