The S.E. Wimberly Library has been designated a Selective Federal Depository Library (0107-B) since 1963, serving the 19th Congressional District.

The Department receives publications distributed by the U.S. Government Printing Office through its Federal Depository Library Program. Many government documents dated prior to 1963 have been obtained either through gifts or purchase.  Commercially published indexes and microfiche collections have also been purchased to enhance the materials received from the Federal Government.

Recently, the U.S. Government Printing Office has been a conduit for providing federal government produced CD-ROMs to the federal depository libraries. The Government Documents Department receives many of these electronic products.

The collection is arranged by the Superintendent of Documents classification system.
Most of the federal documents published since 1976 can be accessed through the Library's online public catalog. Assistance may be needed for use of the collection prior to that date.

The Library became a State of Florida Depository Library in 1968 after passage of the law creating the Florida State Depository System.
