FAU Digital Library works to ensure that all
digitized materials comply with best-practice guidelines
concerning copyright. All DL materials will have either an
internal release form (e.g., a signed release form) or an external citation
generated from its administrative metadata that specifies the
rights and permissions granted. FAU Digital Library
also uses a simple internal release form when digitizing
materials for podcasts, institutional repository, and other
digital collections. The release form signed by the author,
creator, or copyright holder of the original physical material
gives FAU Libraries the rights to publish the digital version of
the physical object or recording on the World Wide Web.
Digital
reproductions of items from the Florida Atlantic University's
Special Collections Department are made available under an
assertion of fair use (17 U.S.C. 107) for noncommercial
educational and research purposes only. Florida Atlantic
University Libraries' Digital Library respects the intellectual
property rights of others and does not claim any copyright
interest in these materials. Written permission from the
copyright owner and any other rights holders must be obtained
for any reuse of these images that extends beyond fair use or
other statutory exemptions. Furthermore, responsibility for the
determination of the copyright status and securing permission
rests with those persons wishing to reuse the materials.
