Libraries UBorrow |
What is UBORROW?
UBorrow allows you to request materials directly from participating
libraries within Florida's state university system.
This unmediated borrowing service increases your access to the
collections of the other universities in Florida and delivers more quickly
than standard Interlibrary Loan.
Click here for an overview of the steps to requesting materials through
UBorrow.
How does
it work?
You can access UBorrow two ways.
When searching the
FAU Libraries catalog, click on the blue UBORROW link towards the
top right corner of the search results page.
This will take you to the
Florida Universities Library catalog,
showing all the available items within the university system.
If you want an item, click on the UBORROW icon again, provide your
Owl Card number, and select where you want to pick up your item.
You will receive an email in a few days letting you know that your
item is ready for you.
FAU & PBSC South students, faculty and staff who have an active library
account are
eligible to place requests through UBORROW.
What can I get through UBorrow?
Currently you may request only books.
Plans for later phases include adding article requesting, and requests
beyond
Florida's state university system.
The average time to receive items is four business days.
What if
the item I requested is not available?
If the item you requested is not available at any of the libraries in the
state university system, your request will be automatically forwarded to our
Interlibrary Loan service at FAU.
You will receive an email with a link prompting you to login to
ILLiad. From there, your
request will be populated in the ILLiad request form.
You simply need to click SUBMIT.
What are
the loan periods?
You are given 60 days from the time the item arrives on campus.
Again, you'll receive an email as soon as your item is received and
ready for pickup.
Can I
renew my loans?
You may request one renewal for materials borrowed through UBORROW.
Please note, this is a request, so you will want to place your
request several days before your item is due.
After you place your request, you will receive an email notifying you
of the new due date or that your request was denied.
What
happens if my items are overdue?
You will receive email notifications about your overdue UBORROW items just
as you do for the items that you borrow from the FAU Libraries.
Fines also apply
for all overdue, lost,
and damaged UBORROW loans. See
circulation policies
here.
Where
can I return
my items?
You can return your UBORROW items at the libraries on the Boca Raton
or
MacArthur campuses and the remote book drops.
Some Ebooks listed in the catalog may be
electronically available to only one institution. The UBorrow button will
allow you to request a print copy.
Yes, you can access UBorrow anywhere simply by logging
in to your home librarys catalog.
You will receive an automated email
notifying you when your UBorrow book is ready for you to pick up. The email
will also confirm the pickup location of your requested item.
C
UBorrow allows 100 active requests at any time.
